General questions
Q: What is Dry Diggings Distillery?
A: We’re a small, family-run distillery here in El Dorado Hills. Since 2012, we’ve been making spirits — whiskey, brandy, vodka, and gin — and sharing them with folks at Hills, our bar, restaurant, coffee counter, and little shop of local goods.
Q: How does Dry Diggings Distillery relate to Amador Distillery, Engine 49, and Hills?
A: They’re all part of our family. Dry Diggings is where it started. Amador Distillery keeps alive our love of brandy and the foothills’ vineyards. Engine 49 is our line of traditional whiskey, gin, vodka, and bourbon. Hills is our gathering place — a spot to sip, eat, and share community under one roof.
Q: Where are you located?
A: You’ll find us right off Highway 50 in El Dorado Hills: 5050 Robert J Mathews Pkwy., El Dorado Hills, CA 95762. Our business is in a concrete tilt up located in a business park. We recommend you keep your eyes peeled and trust your maps.
Q: What spirits do you make?
A: Everything from vodka and gin to bourbon, rye, Single Malt whiskey, and a wide range of brandies. Some of our favorites include Rubicon Rye, Diamond Springs Vodka, Botanica Gin, and Bodie 5 Dog Single Malt. We’re always tinkering and putting out small experimental runs, too.
Q: Do you use local ingredients?
A: As often as we can. We work with California growers and vintners — it’s important to us that our spirits reflect the land and people around us.
Visiting & Reservations
Q: Do I need a reservation?
A: Not always. Walk-ins are welcome when we’ve got room, but reservations are the safest way to make sure you get a seat.
Q: How do I book a distillery tour?
A: You can book online or give us a call. Our tours walk you through the stills, barrels, and stories — After you can belly up to the bar to taste what we’ve been working on.
Q: Is Hills open every day?
A: We’re open Monday through Saturday, except for certain holidays. Our Hours page and Google listing are always kept current.
Q: Do you allow kids or dogs?
A: As much as we love kids and dogs (we’ve got a few ourselves), our place is 21+ and not set up for pets indoors.
Q: Do you host private events?
A: We do! From birthdays to company parties, we’re glad to host groups in our tasting room, dining area, or around the community table.
Dining & Drinks
Q: What’s on the Hills menu?
A: Our menu changes with the season but stays simple and fresh — think hearty Gold Rush-inspired dishes, balanced cocktails, and a short but thoughtful list of local wines and beers.
Q: Do you offer gluten-free or vegetarian options?
A: We do our best. While we’re not an allergen-free kitchen, we always keep vegetarian and gluten-friendly choices on the menu. Just let your server know what you need.
Q: Do you serve more than spirits?
A: Yes — we’ve got cocktails, local wines, craft beer, a full coffee counter, and non-alcoholic options.
Shopping & Shipping
Q: Can I buy your spirits online?
A: Yep. You can order online for pickup here at the distillery or, if you’re in California, have it shipped to your door (state laws permitting).
Q: Do you sell merchandise or gift cards?
A: We’re working on it — merch and gift cards are coming soon.
Events & Memberships
Q: Do you have a club?
A: Not yet, but it’s in the works. Join our newsletter to be first in line when we launch.
Q: Do you host public events?
A: Yes! We put on community events, cocktail classes, and seasonal gatherings. Keep an eye on our Events page or sign up for our updates.
