The Barrel Strength Engine 49 Bourbon is 120 proof - 60%ABV for consistency, keeping it close to how it comes out of the barrel. The higher proof provides a distinctive beginning and end to the taste due to it’s mash bill. Up front you have the thin, hot corn but on the back end, it’s the sweetness of the rye coming up to mellow out the heat- a distinctive beginning and end to the taste.
If you’d like a fun experiment, pour it neat and taste. Put a single drop of water in the glass, taste, then so on and so forth. A higher ABV gives the consumer more control over how you’d like to drink it. Otherwise, put it over a rock and call it a day.
